Wild pig

The hunt that does not wait for a draw. Pigs are a license, non-lead, and a landowner who actually said yes — or public ground you have walked.

Where they live

Foothill oaks, creek bottoms, and any ranch edge with acorns and mud. They move with food and pressure. Last week's spot is a rumor until you glass it again.

How we hunt it

Dawn and last light. A light rifle you trust inside two hundred yards. Night hunting is a different permit and a different plan — do not improvise it.

Pigs spoil fast. Ice is not optional in August. If you cannot cool the meat, do not take the shot.

Before you go

A current hunting license and non-lead. Private land means permission you can explain to a warden, not a handshake you think you remember.
