Rice ditches and refuge mud. Unlined so they dry, tall enough that a step-in does not end the morning.
Lined boots feel good in the store and rot in the truck. We run an unlined knee boot for valley ducks and a separate insulated pair for the days the water skins over.
Look at the sole. If it is a fashion lug, keep walking. You want something that stays on a muddy berm.
Dry them open, not in a heap. That is the whole maintenance plan.
