Headlamp with a red mode
~$35
Issue #11
Walk in without lighting the whole marsh. Red for the pit, white for the blood trail, and a battery you replaced this year.
The lamp that fails is the one with the battery from last January. We keep a simple headlamp with a red mode in the dove vest and another in the duck bag.
Red keeps your eyes and keeps you from spotlighting the spread while you fix a tangle. White is for after the shot, on the ground, close.
Put the spare battery in the same pocket every time. Mystery pockets are how mornings start late.
